Privacy Policy for Loglet
Last updated: July 3, 2026
In short: Loglet stores all of your financial data only on your own device.
Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you explicitly turn on Google Drive backup, and even then,
only your own private Drive folder receives a copy. Loglet has no server of its own and no
analytics or advertising.
1. Who we are
Loglet ("the app", "we", "us") is an expense and budget tracking app. This policy
explains what data the app accesses, how it is used, and what choices you have.
Contact: support@getloglet.com.
2. Data stored on your device
All expenses, budgets, categories, savings goals, recurring expenses, split groups, receipt
images, and settings you enter into Loglet are stored in a local database on your device only.
This data never leaves your device unless you turn on Google Drive backup (see below). We do
not have a server, and we cannot see, access, or recover your data - if you lose your device
without a backup, that data is gone.
3. SMS and notification access (UPI/bank auto-detection)
If you enable it, Loglet reads incoming SMS messages and notifications from banking and payment
apps on your device only, to detect UPI and bank transaction alerts and turn
them into draft expense entries for you to review and confirm.
- This processing happens entirely on your device. Message content is never uploaded, transmitted, or shared with us or any third party.
- Only the transaction amount, merchant name, date, and reference number are extracted and stored locally as a pending transaction - the full message text is not permanently retained beyond what's needed to show you the source for verification.
- Detected transactions are never saved automatically. You always review, edit, and explicitly confirm each one (or reject it) before it becomes part of your expense records.
- This feature is off by default and requires you to explicitly grant Android's Notification Access permission. You can disable it at any time from Settings, and revoking the permission in Android's system settings stops it immediately.
4. Google Drive backup (optional)
If you choose to sign in with Google and enable backup, Loglet saves an encrypted-in-transit
copy of your local database to your own Google Drive account, specifically to Drive's hidden
"app data" folder.
- This folder is private to Loglet - it does not appear in your regular Drive file list and is not accessible to other apps.
- We do not have access to this data. It is stored in your Google account, governed by your own Google Drive storage and Google's privacy policy.
- We request the minimum Google account permission needed to read and write this app-specific folder - not your full Drive, contacts, or other Google data.
- You can disconnect Google Drive backup at any time from Settings, and delete the backup directly from your Google Account's connected-apps data.
5. Camera and photo access
Loglet can use your camera or photo library to scan receipts. Receipt images are processed
on-device using on-device text recognition to pre-fill expense details, and stored locally with
the associated expense. Images are not uploaded or sent to any external service for processing.
6. Biometric authentication (optional)
If you enable the app lock feature, Loglet uses your device's built-in fingerprint or face
unlock to lock the app. Your biometric data is handled entirely by your device's operating
system - Loglet never receives, stores, or has access to your fingerprint or face data itself.
7. What we don't do
- No advertising or ad networks.
- No analytics or usage tracking SDKs.
- No selling or sharing of your data with third parties, ever.
- No account creation or login required to use the app's core features.
8. Third-party services
Loglet uses the following external services, only for the specific purpose listed:
- Google Drive API - only if you enable backup, to store your backup file in your own private app-data folder.
- Google Sign-In - only to authenticate you for the Drive backup feature.
- Frankfurter.app (exchange rate API) - a public, free currency-conversion API used when you log an expense in a foreign currency. Only the currency codes and date are sent to retrieve a rate; no personal or financial data is included in these requests.
9. Data deletion
You can delete all local data at any time by uninstalling the app, or by using the in-app data
management tools in Settings. If you've used Google Drive backup, you can delete that backup
from your Google Account's "Manage third-party apps & services" page, or by disconnecting
Loglet's Drive access there.
10. Children's privacy
Loglet is not directed at children under 13 (or the relevant minimum age in your country) and
we do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the "Last updated" date at the top of this page will change, and
significant changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
